Paris

5 days in Paris at the end of February.

Les Philosophes in Marais. Charming restaurant with authentic French cuisine and good service. We had great salads, cheese, duck, and a delicious Tarte Tatin for dessert.

Astier de Villatte at 173 Rue Saint-Honoré. Lovely surrealistic ceramics in a beautiful store.

Tour Montparnasse with a view over the city.

We stayed at Hôtel La Nouvelle République in the North Eastern part of Paris, the Republic district. 9 Rue Moret. Nice interior, comfortable atmosphere, and a delicious breakfast. The closest metro station is Couronnes, and it’s walking distance to many restaurants and shops in Marais.

The most charming art supply store, Magasin Sennelier on 3 Quai Voltaire.

Cafe Charlot at 38 Rue de Bretagne. Love the food and atmosphere.

La Perlerie 22 at 22 Rue du Temple.

Hot chocolate from Chocolate Alain Ducasse at 40 Rue de la Roquette.

Sacré-Coeur in Montmartre. An impressive church with a fantastic view over Paris. Many steps on a narrow staircase to reach the view point.

Museée Bourdelle. Home, studio, garden, and beautiful sculptures by Rodins student Antonine Bourdelle.

The view from Sacré-Coeur.

We found many vintage/thrift stores in Paris. Free’p’Star, Kilo Shop Kawaii, and Hippy Market Marais are some of our favorites.

The view of the Eiffel Tower from metro line 6.

The hilly streets of Montmartre and a detail from Halle Saint-Pierre.

We had a delicious lunch at Atlas in the Latin Quartier. French onion soup, moules frites, and truffle ravioli.

A great restaurant close to our hotel, Bouche, at 85 Rue Jean-Pierre Tumbaud.

We did a lot of walking in Paris. The city is much bigger than we thought, so we also used the metro. Paris has a great metro system. There are many stations, trains, and good signs that make it easy to navigate.

We love the interior of the Clown bar at 114 Rue Amelot.

Lunch at Le Café Marly with a view over Pyramide du Louvre.

Louvren, the gigantic art museum. Da Vincis Mona Lisa, Nike from Samothrake, Venus from Milo to name a few of the most known artworks.

Last lunch before heading to the airport. Café la Perle in Marais. We had great days in Paris. Busy days from breakfast to dinner. A lot of walking. There is so much to do, see, and eat!
