South Goa India

We spent about 2 weeks in the south of Goa. We broke up the beach days with a trip to Hampi that you can see pictures and read about in the next post. It was at the end of February and the beginning of March. The weather was beautiful with a temperature of about 30-35 degrees Celsius. Most of our Goan time we spent in Patnem Beach, a small and quiet place in the south of Goa.

Casa Jaali is a charming place to stay at when visiting Patnem. Small huts and beach houses in traditional Goan-style architecture. We loved the interior style, the friendly staff, the garden, and the restaurant that some days offered live music or a dj playing.

Street view with small shops right next to the beach and Casa Jaali.

A great place for lunch or dinner is Café Jaali. The restaurant has the same owner that Casa Jaali, but on a different location in Patnem Beach. There is a cute shop right next to it.

A 10 minute tuk tuk ride to the closest cash machine in Chaudi.

About half an hour north of Patnem is Agonda Beach. We stayed there for a night at Agonda Shell Beach Resort. Simple huts by the beach. Agonda is a larger and a bit busier beach than Patnem Beach. Many small resorts, restaurants, shops, and a beautiful sunset.

We found this great restaurant in Agonda that we love, Zest. There is also one at Palolem Beach, a 10 minute tuk tuk ride from Patnem Beach.

We stayed a few days at this beautiful place in Cola Beach, Dwarka Eco Beach Resort. Comfortable huts right on a small beautiful beach. Fantastic food. The beach is fabulous. We had to be careful swimming though due to strong currents. There are only a few small resorts and restaurants at Cola Beach, but no shops. Not much to do, but just enjoy the beach, exploring little Cola Beach, and going canoeing in a fresh water lagoon right next to the resort. Perfect for a couple of days! Further down the beach it was true paradise in our opinion. We had the beach all by ourselves.

We had a fantastic relaxing time in the south of Goa. Only wish we could have stayed longer!
